A civil law suit is a private suit which is filed between two or more entities (can involve individual persons, business or government entities) and it usually involves infringement upon the rights and protections of individuals.

Civil law is the most dominant legal tradition in various parts of the world. It deals with individuals, and/or organizations in which compensation is rewarded to the victim. E.g. in a car accident, victim can claim damages against the driver for the loss or injury sustained in the accident. It also helps in settling disputes involving probate of wills, torts, property, , administrative law, commercial law and private matters including government departments.

Civil law was originated from the legal institutions of Rome. Its name is derived from jus civile, the civil law of the Roman Republic and the Roman Empire. The jurists were usually people who belonged to the upper classes of the Roman society and they used to offer their legal knowledge voluntarily as a public service. They used to advise parties to litigation, lay judiciary who presided over the trials and judged the facts of the case.

How to file a Civil Lawsuit:-

Step 1: You must decide who you are going to sue and where or what court you will sue at. Visit http://www.lasuperiorcourt.org

Step 2: Once you have found the court house you are going to file at you go to the court house and file a civil claim.

Step 3: You have to pay proper fees or can get a fee waiver if you are on SSI or a low income situation. The fee is going to be around $320.

Step 4: Decide whether you wish to file limited or unlimited civil lawsuit. A limited civil lawsuit remains in between 7500-25,000 and unlimited is anything over 25,000

Step 5: Go and fill out your paper work.
